Clack, her brother, while he was serving with the 23rd North Carolina Regiment, C.S.A., in Virginia and North Carolina and recovering in a Virginia hospital, concerning his experiences in camp, battle, and hospital. One other letter, 2 October 1862, is from Carrie Clack's cousin, John R. Clack, describing the Confederate victory at Harper's Ferry, W.Va.
